Activity Overview and Format

This is the first activity in a 4-activity series. We encourage you to complete all 4 activities for the most comprehensive educational experience.

  • Learners will begin the activity with a pretest
  • Following the pretest, learners will be guided through an expert video, where the faculty member will discuss approaching the person living with obesity
  • At the conclusion of the expert video, learners will demonstrate knowledge improvement through a posttest

Intended Audience

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, residents, and fellows who treat or manage people living with obesity, including those in the fields of endocrinology, bariatric surgery, cardiology, women’s health, gastroenterology, rheumatology, family medicine, internal medicine, and general practice, among others.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Explain what weight bias and weight stigma are, and challenge their own biases towards people living with obesity
  • Explain the mechanisms contributing to obesity and metabolic adaptation to weight loss, and their implications for long-term obesity management

Physicians

The Institute for Medical and Nursing Education, Inc. (IMNE), is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Method of Participation

  • Read and/or watch and/or listen to the content, which should take approximately 15 minutes to complete
  • To claim CME/CE credit, you must complete the posttest corresponding to the activity with a score of ≥80% and then complete the activity evaluation form
  • Upon completion of the activity, you will earn CME/CE credits
